Activities: Museums

Museums come in many shapes and forms: Museums, Interpretive Centers, Murals, Walking Tours, Driving Tours and the historic towns provide a county-wide journey in the area's history. The Eastern California Museum has indoor and outdoor displays of all of Inyo County's History. Special interest 'museum" brings yesterday's stories on local railroads, filming, Native American, Historic Nation Park and Site Interpretive Centers, local flavor museum and locations and Visitor Centers. The County is an open area museum. Walking tours, formal and informal, through the towns with murals and historic buildings to bring history alive. Walking trails in areas outside the towns let you learn of the first footsteps in the area and of the flora and fauna. Auto Touring on the Scenic Byway and through the back-roads lets you explore history in the great outdoor museum.
