Events: Boom Town History Series

Longstreet Hotel & Casino
February 3-5, 2006

What is the Nevada Boomtown History Event? This conference-like setting brings together professional and amateur historians with a passion for Nevada’s unique mining past. Topics are selected for their significant historical qualities and relevance to Nevada and associated locations. This year is the first in what will be a series of events held throughout the state. You can expect to hear presentations by such noted authorities as Carrie Townley-Porter presenting a living history of Helen J. Stewart, Sally Zanjani telling the story of Jack Longstreet – Last of the Western Frontiersman, Dr. Richard Francaviglia, Charting the Boom, (mapping mining development 1860-1910), and Noel Kirshenbaum, sharing May Bradford Shockley (surveyor and map maker for the Bullfrog Mining District). The registration cost for the conference is $60, which includes a copy of the proceedings. The enclosed information outlines what is included in the registration fee as well as optional programs and their additional charges. As we have space for less than 200 individuals, we expect the event to sell out quickly and would recommend you register as soon as possible as well as make your hotel or RV reservations early as space is limited (hotel information is enclosed). Feel free to make additional copies for friends, fellow historians and/or other agency members.

If you have questions or need further registration information, please call or e-mail please call Pat Houser at (775) 751-2250 or (775) 291-8518 or e-mail her at aphouser@aol.com as soon as possible. We look forward to your participation in this and future Nevada Boomtown History Events!
